Peace and Civic Education
Iftin Foundation believes that a strong democracy and lasting stability are built on an informed, engaged, and peaceful citizenry. Our civic education and peacebuilding programs empower communities with the knowledge and tools needed to understand their rights and responsibilities, resolve conflicts through dialogue, and actively participate in governance while holding leaders accountable.
Through community workshops, we educate citizens on their constitutional rights and the principles of non-violence, teaching them how to engage in civic life and peacebuilding responsibly. We foster inclusive dialogue by hosting public forums and reconciliation debates that bring citizens and leaders together to discuss governance, social cohesion, and the constitutional reforms necessary for a harmonious society. Our voter and peace education campaigns target underrepresented groups—including women and first-time voters to ensure broad, peaceful participation in democratic processes.
We also engage youth in civic leadership and conflict transformation programs, nurturing their role as the active, informed, and peace-loving citizens of tomorrow. By equipping citizens with civic knowledge, a voice, and the tools for mediation, we are strengthening Somalia’s democratic foundation and its prospects for peace from the ground up.
