Kismayo Job Fair Event for Female University Graduates

In collaboration with the Jubbaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), and IFTIN Foundation has organized and implemented a one-day Job Fair event for the female University graduates on December 16th 2015
The Job Fair event which is the first of its type to be held in Kismayo district was part of FURSAD program activities assisted by the Somali Stability Fund (SSF) and implemented by IFTIN Foundation.
The Fursad program is assisting female graduates’ job placement proposals through linkage with the private sectors, organizations, universities and governmental institutions for potential employment opportunities. The main aim for this job fair event was to find job placement openings for the female graduates. Various organizations and companies operating in Kismayo district were the main participants in the job fair event.
The main organizations attending this Job Fair exhibition included; Hormud Telecom, Hodan Global, Salam Bank, Kismayo University, Dasheeg Company, SOWDO, Nation Link, KIMS, Tayocom , SWSO, JCCI, SMART, MOLOF, Civil Service, KISIMA, Somali Women Organization, Ministry of Health and Shaqadoon organization.
One hundred female graduates were the main participants in this event. The females attending the event were university graduates at different academic years, but had not the chance to be employed. The main aim of the job fair event was to start active linkage between the employers and female graduates who are unemployed, and eventually provide employment chances for the jobless females through these contacts.
After the opening remarks, Abdulakadir Moalim Mohamed, FURSAD Program Manager has pointed out the purpose of the Job Fair event and the general future goals of the program. He underlined how the female graduates could establish direct linkage with organizations and companies that provide job opportunities
In his speech, H.E. Hassan Dheere, Minister of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation mentioned the significance of employing the female graduates. He stated that Jubbaland State is planning to make women 50 percent of the government employees. The Minister has encouraged Iftin Foundation’s efforts towards supporting the initiative of employing the female graduates.
This workshop was based on diverse methodologies including inviting prospective employer organizations and companies from the private sector and female job seekers and prepare proper venue for hosting the event and media groups for public awareness rising for the event. At that stage, the one-day Job Fair event was closed up.
