Job Fair Event in Mogadishu Somalia
In close coordination with Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the Fursad program under Iftin Foundation has organized a one-day job fair in Mogadishu, Somalia on October 30th, 2016 The Job Fair event is a major part of Fursad program activities assisted by the Somali Stability Fund (SSF) which is significantly contributing to the job placement plans through establishing close cooperation with the thriving private sectors, companies, universities and government institutions for the possibility of accessing employment vacancies opportunities.
The main aim of this event was to achieve job placement prospect for both female and male graduates, various Directors and Managers from Organizations, Private Companies, Universities, Banks, Governmental Institution and Media group were the main participants of the event.
The companies participating in the job fair exhibition included Dahabshil Bank International (DBI), Premier Bank, International Bank of Somalia (IBS), Salaama Bank, African Trust Bank, Amal Bank, Somali Media Association (SOMA), and Somali National Television (SNTV). Access TV, Astur Factory, Plasma University, Somali Data Network, Horn Connect, Moumin Group of Companies,, Bilan printing,, Goal FM and Radio Mustaqbal. Three hundred female and male graduates were invited to take part in this event. The participants attending the job fair event were university graduates at different academic years that regrettably had not yet got the chance to access job opportunities.
This event was based on diverse methodologies including inviting potential employer companies from the private sector, government institutions and female and male job seekers. In his opening remarks, Mr. Mohamed Bille Head of employers and Job seekers relations expressed his appreciation for the participants and briefly outlined the purpose of the event. He especially thanked the hundreds of female and male graduates and the private companies, organizations and government institutions for attending the event.
He pointed out that the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Iftin Foundation has jointly organized the job fair event.
Subsequently, Abdulkadir Moalim Mohamed, Program Manager of Fursad Project for job placement scheme for female and male graduates in his welcoming speech pointed out that this job fair event is the fourth of its type organized under Fursad program and implemented throughout the districts of Kismayo, Bosaso and Mogadishu. He also mentioned that the job fair event is aiming to make linkage and direct contact between the employers and urged the private companies and organizations to give internship opportunities that will eventually enable them get valuable experiences. At that stage, the one-day Job Fair event was completed.
